CHENGDU, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) — "I am confident that this is the best World Games in history," International World Games Association (IWGA) President Jose Perurena told Xinhua on Sunday morning.
“After ten extremely exciting days of the 12th World Games, my conclusion is very, very positive,” said Perurena, noting that Chengdu’s high-quality sports facilities and comprehensive organization left a deep impression.
He drew particular attention to such innovations as the first ever torch relay and the lighting of the main cauldron. “But that’s not all. For the first time, an equal number of men and women are participating in the competition, which is very important,” stressed J. Perurena.
