Moscow, August 17 /Xinhua/ — The creation and launch of the automatic interplanetary station "Venera-D" has been included in Russia's national project for space exploration, TASS reported on Sunday, citing Oleg Korablyov, head of the planetary physics department at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to O. Korablyov, the preliminary design will start in January 2026, simultaneously with the start of the national project. The launch date will be specified upon completion of the preliminary design. “But definitely within the current planning period, no later than 2036. It’s been a long time since we ‘said goodbye’ to Venus,” the scientist said.

According to plans, the Venera-D mission will consist of a landing module, a balloon probe and an orbiter. –0–
