Tashkent, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported on Sunday.

“On August 17, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin,” the statement said.

It is indicated that current aspects of the international and bilateral agenda were discussed.

"The President of Russia informed the leader of our country about the main results of the Russian-American summit held on August 15 in the city of Anchorage. The head of our state, supporting the agreements reached, expressed hope for a speedy resolution of the situation around Ukraine," the statement says.

In addition, as noted, during the conversation, issues of taking coordinated measures aimed at maintaining the current dynamics of trade and economic cooperation and accelerating the implementation of priority projects for cooperation between enterprises of Uzbekistan and Russia were also discussed.
