BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) — The ice hockey tournament of the 2025 China-SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Winter Sports Demonstration Zone opened in Qiqihar, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on Saturday, the city's physical education and sports bureau said.
The event is attended by hockey teams from China, Russia, Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
According to the department, the tournament, hosted by the Qiqihar City People's Government, is part of efforts to implement the overall plan for the construction of the China-SCO Winter Sports Demonstration Zone.
Qiqihar is known as a hockey city in China. According to local media, this event is the first in the 2025 hockey season and the Qiqihar International Invitational Hockey Tournament.
