ANCHORAGE /USA/, August 16 /Xinhua/ – The conclusion of an agreement on the settlement of the conflict now depends on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump said on Friday after talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the US state of Alaska.
A trilateral meeting will take place in the near future with the participation of himself, V. Zelensky and V. Putin, D. Trump said in an interview with Fox News, without giving details about the planned meeting and possible dates.
The American leader added that European countries “will have to participate a little bit,” but insists that ultimately the conclusion of the deal depends on V. Zelensky.
“We have a very good chance to do this,” D. Trump noted.
Earlier in the day, Trump and Putin held nearly three hours of talks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, the first meeting between the two presidents since 2021. –0–
