BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) — China's civil aviation sector handled 440 million passenger trips in the first seven months of 2025, up 5.6 percent year on year, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said Friday.

The total volume of transportation in the sector in January-July of this year exceeded 93.15 billion tonne-kilometers, which is 11 percent more than a year earlier.

The volume of cargo and mail transportation by air during the reporting period reached 5.65 million tons, an increase of 14.7 percent year-on-year.

In July alone, the country's total civil aviation traffic increased by 8.6 percent year-on-year to 14.8 billion tonne-kilometres, with passenger traffic up 3.9 percent to 71.82 million and cargo and mail traffic up 15.3 percent to 867,000 tonnes, according to UGA data.

The agency's data also showed that passenger traffic on international routes by Chinese airlines last month was a record 7.09 million person-times, up 15.7 percent from the same period a year earlier. -0-
