ANCHORAGE, U.S., Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he had a "very productive meeting" with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska.
The two presidents held a joint press conference following talks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.
D. Trump said at a press conference that many points were agreed upon, adding that both sides had made some progress, but there was no deal.
V. Putin agreed that Ukraine's security must be ensured. According to him, the agreement reached with D. Trump will bring this goal closer and pave the way for peace in Ukraine.
Standing side by side on stage for just over 10 minutes, the US and Russian leaders said progress had been made in their face-to-face talks but no concrete agreements had been reached.

According to the Russian leader, Russia is sincerely interested in putting an end to the ongoing conflict. V. Putin emphasized that efforts should be aimed at eliminating the “root causes” of the conflict.
