Pyongyang, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un met with Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin on Thursday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday.
V. Volodin conveyed to Kim Jong-un friendly greetings and a congratulatory message from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula, the report says.
Kim Jong-un emphasized that V. Volodin’s visit will serve as a reason for the further development of bilateral relations and the deepening of friendly and fraternal feelings between the two peoples, the report notes.
He stressed the importance of the parliaments of the two countries in strengthening political relations and cooperation between the two states and creating a political and legislative environment conducive to the development of bilateral relations.
In turn, V. Volodin noted that relations between Russia and the DPRK are developing and strengthening under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two states. He expressed readiness to make active efforts to promote exchanges and cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, the report says. –0–
