Bosteri/Kyrgyzstan/, August 14 (Xinhua) — The 7th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum is being held in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. The event, the main theme of which is “Digital Sovereignty as a Driver of Economic Growth,” has brought together over 1,000 participants.

At the opening of the forum, a welcoming address by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov was read. It states that in the context of rapid digital development, issues of technological independence, protection of digital data and development of national IT infrastructure come to the forefront. “That is why the topic of the current forum is particularly relevant,” S. Japarov noted in his letter.

In his welcoming speech to the forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that high technology is playing an increasingly important role in the implementation of joint economic projects between the two countries. In his message, the president also expressed hope that the discussions within the forum will be meaningful and constructive, and that the proposals and initiatives put forward will be implemented in the interests of further strengthening mutually beneficial Russian-Kyrgyz economic ties.

The forum's program also reportedly includes a plenary session devoted to the topic of digital sovereignty and technological cooperation in the EAEU; panel sessions discussing issues such as digital financial solutions as a tool for accelerated economic growth, access to markets – from e-commerce to modernization of logistics and infrastructure.
