BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — A delegation of six young Russian artists who won prizes in the China-Russia exhibition "Multicolored World" visited Beijing from Aug. 6 to 10, the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries reported on its official Wechat account.

Guests from Russia took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which started on August 7 at the museum complex at the Zhonghua Centennial Monument in the Chinese capital, and received their well-deserved awards.

The exhibition is held in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War and the World Anti-Fascist War. As part of their trip, the Russian artists visited the Lugouqiao Bridge /also known as the Marco Polo Bridge/ in Beijing, where an incident occurred on July 7, 1937, which is considered the beginning of a full-scale invasion of China by Japanese militarists and the beginning of a nationwide war against Japanese aggression.

During their stay in the Chinese capital, the Russian youth representatives also visited the Museum of Chinese Traditional Culture, where they viewed the permanent exhibition of Chinese decorative and applied arts, and also visited such World Cultural Heritage sites as the Temple of Heaven /Tiantan/ and the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, to get acquainted with the history and culture of Beijing.

While receiving the Russian delegation, Vice-Chairwoman of the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Wang Yanxia noted that both China and Russia have a long history and magnificent culture, and humanitarian exchanges play an indispensable role in strengthening the friendship between the peoples of the two countries. She expressed her willingness to work together with the visiting artists to promote artistic exchanges and advance friendship between the youth of China and Russia.

Let us recall that the winners of the said competition and the participants of the exhibition, organized by the People's Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries of Beijing, the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing and other institutions, were 160 paintings – 80 from each of the Chinese and Russian sides, including 15 first-degree prize winners, as well as 25 and 40 recipients of second- and third-degree prizes. -0-
