Moscow, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — The 3rd China-Russia Library Forum was held at the Pashkov House in Moscow on Thursday. The main theme of this year's event was "Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage: Best Experiences of the Two Countries."

"Russian-Chinese cooperation in the cultural sphere, based on common values and the desire for mutual understanding, serves as a solid foundation for interstate relations. An important role in this process belongs to the international activities of libraries, which contribute to the strengthening of humanitarian cooperation and the expansion of intercultural dialogue between our peoples," noted Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova in her greeting to the forum participants.

"Libraries, as a temple of human knowledge and a bridge between civilizations, play an indispensable and important role in cultural exchanges between the two countries. From mutual study of ancient book collections to the exchange of modern publications, cooperation in the library field not only promotes mutual understanding between our peoples, but also makes a profound cultural contribution to the sustainable and healthy development of Chinese-Russian relations," said Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Russia, at the opening ceremony of the forum.

The forum saw the signing of an agreement on photocopying manuscripts between the National Library of China and the Russian State Library, as well as a cooperation agreement between the Capital Library of China and the Far Eastern State Scientific Library. –0–
