BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — China urges the United States to stop interpreting national security too broadly and stop denigrating and obstructing China's economic and trade cooperation with other countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Wednesday.
The diplomat made the call in response to accusations from U.S. officials and analysts that Chinese companies have built a network of seaports around the world to control global trade, engage in so-called espionage and facilitate China's naval operations on the high seas.
“We hope that the American side will stop interpreting the concept of national security too broadly and stop inflating the thesis of the so-called ‘Chinese threat’, as well as denigrating and obstructing China’s normal trade and economic cooperation with other countries,” Lin Jian emphasized. –0–
