ISLAMABAD, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — Pakistan and the United States on Tuesday reaffirmed their shared commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations during the latest round of the Pakistan-US Counter Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting was co-chaired by Pakistan's Foreign Ministry Special Secretary for UN Affairs Nabeel Munir and Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department's Office of Counterterrorism Gregory D. Logerfo, the ministry said in a statement.
The discussions focused on consolidating joint efforts to combat terrorist threats, including those emanating from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), the Islamic State of Khorasan and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Both sides stressed the need to develop effective strategies to neutralize these groups.
Both sides agreed to improve institutional mechanisms, enhance operational capacity, and combat the misuse of new technologies by terrorist organizations.
