BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese authorities have allocated 1.15 billion yuan (about 162 million U.S. dollars) to support agricultural disaster prevention and mitigation in major grain-producing regions, the Ministry of Finance said Wednesday.
The central government budget will support 13 key grain-producing regions at the provincial level to apply spraying technology during the autumn harvest, which will help prevent disasters, reduce risks and stabilize yields.
The funds will be used to subsidize spraying of plant growth regulators, foliar fertilizers, fungicides and insecticides on fall crops, including corn, soybeans and rice, to help ensure a bumper harvest this year. –0–
