BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) — The International Guest Archery Tournament was held in the northeast Chinese border city of Suifenhe on Aug. 9-10, attracting about 300 athletes from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Canada and Australia, according to a statement posted on the city's website on Monday.
The event was organized by the Suifenhe City Department of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism, and co-organized by the Shengruida Sports Technology Development Company of Heilongjiang Province, the Boyue Archery Sports Club of Suifenhe City, the Heilongjiang Archery Society and the Archery Federation of Russia's Vladivostok. The participants, divided into 12 groups, competed in 40 disciplines in four main categories.
Wang Tao, deputy director of the Suifenhe City Department of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism, said that Suifenhe has hosted the international archery competition nine times, which has become a great showcase for local sports tourism.
