ZHENGZHOU, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) — Xu Ying, former deputy head of China's State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday for accepting bribes.

The sentence was handed down by the Intermediate People's Court of Anyang City, Henan Province, central China.

According to the court's verdict, Xu Ying was also fined 5 million yuan (about 700,104 US dollars) and his illegally acquired property was confiscated in favor of the state.

The court found that from 2010 to 2024, the accused, while holding various positions, abused his official powers in the interests of third parties, assisting them in matters such as issuing administrative permits, conducting business activities and personnel appointments, for which he directly or indirectly received monetary funds in the amount of more than 65 million yuan. –0–
