TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — The deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit Iran on Monday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday, citing Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to the report, the Foreign Minister made the statement while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting.

A. Araghchi stressed that the purpose of the visit will be negotiations between Iran and the agency, noting that Iran has already provided the IAEA with the necessary clarifications regarding the new framework for bilateral cooperation in connection with the law on the suspension of cooperation adopted by the country's parliament and Constitutional Council at the end of June.

He stressed that no inspections or visits to Iranian nuclear facilities were planned during the IAEA deputy director general's visit, saying: "We have not yet reached a new agreement and cooperation will not begin."

Iran decided to suspend cooperation with the IAEA after the Israeli-American attacks on its nuclear facilities and the killing of Iranian nuclear scientists by Israel in June. Iran said it would stick to the decision unless the safety of its nuclear facilities and scientists was ensured.

Earlier, the semi-official Fars news agency reported that Massimo Aparo, deputy director general and head of the IAEA secretariat's Department of Safeguards, would visit Iran. -0-
