WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday said his upcoming meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15 in Alaska would be "familiarization."
Speaking at a press conference at the White House, D. Trump noted that the upcoming meeting could also take place with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or include both leaders – Russian and Ukrainian.
A White House spokesman told reporters on August 9 that the US president remains open to holding a summit between the two heads of state.
US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker said on Sunday that Zelensky's participation in the meeting in Alaska on August 15 is still possible.
