SHANGHAI, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — Shanghai's 466-year-old Yuyuan Garden began its first night tours for visitors on Friday.
This night tour combines modern lighting, dynamic projections and mapping shows with classical garden art. The garden of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), protected by the state since 1982, is known as “the most beautiful garden in southeast China.”
The tour will feature a special exhibition of Shanghai-style calligraphy and paintings that are rarely on public display, complemented by digital technology that brings the scenes to life. More than a year in the making, this immersive multimedia night tour revives the cultural heritage of Yu Garden.
The cultural creative brand “Yuyuan Garden” debuted with a “night tour,” featuring products such as surprise boxes and ceramic teaware that are popular with foreign tourists. Notably, the garden now offers tours in English.
Situated near the Bund in central Shanghai, Yu Garden is a landmark in the eastern Chinese metropolis, attracting a record 2.7 million visitors last year, nearly a quarter of whom were foreign tourists. -0-
