KAMPALA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and visiting Ugandan Armed Forces Chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba held talks on strengthening regional stability.
A Ugandan army statement released on Saturday evening said that during a meeting held the same day in the South Sudanese capital Juba, Kiir praised the role of the neighbouring republic in maintaining peace in his country.
Uganda deployed troops to South Sudan at the request of the country's government following clashes between rebel forces and government troops.
M. Kainerugaba said Uganda will continue to strengthen ties with South Sudan.
The meeting came after at least four soldiers were killed late last month during clashes between Ugandan and South Sudanese troops in a disputed border area. –0–
