LANZHOU, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — Roads damaged by mountain streams were repaired and power was restored in Yuzhong County of northwest China's Gansu Province on Sunday after a natural disaster that left 13 people dead and 30 missing.
Roads leading to the worst-hit areas were also reopened to traffic on Sunday, local authorities reported. Over 700 rescuers and more than 200 units of special equipment were involved in the disaster relief efforts.
Power supply to households affected by the mudslides was restored on Saturday evening, according to the Gansu Electric Power Company under the National Grid Corporation. A total of 73 emergency vehicles, 42 generators, three mobile power plants and 330 emergency repair workers were deployed to ensure power supply.
Torrential rains triggered torrential rains hit Yuzhong County and other parts of Lanzhou on Thursday evening, with rainfall reaching 220.2 mm by Friday afternoon.
