Vladivostok, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) — The eruption of the Klyuchevskoy volcano in Kamchatka after the morning ash emission has been assigned the highest aviation hazard code – red, TASS reported on Thursday, citing the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Service.

It is noted that the explosive eruption of the volcano continues. Previously, it had an orange aviation hazard code. This means that its activity can threaten the operation of low-flying aircraft engines.

On Thursday morning, the Klyuchevskoy volcano ejected ash to a height of 11 km. Rescuers warned of possible ashfalls in the Ust-Kamchatsky District. An increase in the eruption is predicted in the next three days.

Klyuchevskoy is the highest active volcano in Eurasia. It is located 30 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, where about 4.5 thousand people live. After a powerful earthquake on July 30 in Kamchatka, the volcano's activity increased. –0–
