BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) — Xu Qin, secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, recently met with a delegation of descendants of Russian veterans who provided aid and support to China in Harbin, the capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
According to the Heilongjiang Provincial Government website, Xu Qin, on behalf of the CPC Provincial Committee and the provincial government, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed respect to the Russian people who have contributed to helping and supporting China.
He noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Guided by this memorable date, Heilongjiang Province is ready to work with the Russian side to preserve historical memory, value peace and jointly create the future, implement important agreements between the leaders of the two countries, strengthen the traditional friendship between their peoples, intensify interregional exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in trade and the economy, and expand cooperation in education, culture, healthcare, tourism and youth exchanges, contributing to the development of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between China and Russia in the new era.
The members of the Russian delegation stated that the victory in World War II was a triumph for all peace-loving peoples of the world, including the peoples of Russia and China, noting that it was a great honor for them to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Russian-Chinese relations.
