GUANGZHOU, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Seven people were missing after heavy rains triggered a landslide in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, on Wednesday morning.

The landslide occurred at around 8:30 a.m., damaging some houses in Dayuan Village in the city's Baiyun District and trapping a total of 14 people.

As of Wednesday afternoon, seven of them had been pulled out and their condition was assessed as stable, the district emergency management department reported. The search for the remaining trapped people continues.

Residents of nearby houses in the area affected by the disaster were also evacuated. -0-
