BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — The Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology and the Shanghai Microsatellite Engineering Center recently signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build a future space hospital. The project aims to improve the health of astronauts, expand health monitoring capabilities and provide life support in orbit.

The space hospital of the future will focus on advanced disease prevention and treatment, overcoming limitations in astronautics, medicine, biology, and conducting research in advanced areas such as ensuring life and health in space. Moreover, it will conduct research on health care for non-astronauts in space travel and galaxy exploration, according to an article published in China Science Daily.

The agreement says the two sides will leverage their advantages in advanced fields such as medical equipment, biomedicine, innovative medical technology and space technology to jointly build a future space hospital.

The parties will cooperate to conduct tests of advanced medical equipment for space, develop innovative medical technologies and drugs, as well as life support systems. Their partnership will also focus on the development of key technologies, experiments and tests for deep space hospitals and interstellar migration. -0-
