BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — China's central budget has allocated a total of 1.015 billion yuan (about 142 million U.S. dollars) to help several provincial-level areas fight floods and drought, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.

The funds, jointly allocated by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Water Resources, will be used to eliminate the consequences of the floods in various regions, including Beijing, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hebei and Guangdong provinces.

The funds will also be used to combat drought in Shandong, Henan and Hubei provinces and other parts of the country, with a focus on supporting work related to fertilization, crop protection, irrigation and tube well drilling. -0-
