At VDNKh, in the Museum of Heroism (Pavilion No. 59), there is a photo-painting exhibition called “Good Service” dedicated to the history of the special military operation (SVO). The author of the presented works is Russian film director, producer, actor and public figure Mikhail Matrosov.
The exhibition includes 24 works. Among the most poignant pictures are a photograph of a boy left homeless after a bombing, a fence riddled with shrapnel with the inscription "People are living", a cat that lost its owners and cuddled up to the chest of a Russian soldier, and an image of the Holy Mother of God captured in the window opening of an empty hut.
The exhibition tells about modern heroes, the courage of people who not only strive to survive, but also resist evil at the cost of their own lives. This is an artistic narrative about what is important for everyone today: about the battle for the Motherland, freedom and faith, for the preservation of the traditional heritage of the country, its moral and spiritual values.
The photographs were taken by Mikhail Matrosov and his front-line friends on the combat contact line, in front-line settlements and evacuation points, military hospitals and in liberated territories. The pictures were selected from a huge amount of photo and documentary film material, and then artistically processed using modern technology by the artist Ilya Ryabov.
The curator of the exhibition is Alena Dolgopolova, an international journalist and expert in the field of cultural diplomacy and international humanitarian relations.
The exhibition "Good Service" at the Museum of Heroism at VDNKh will last until September 15, 2025.
