Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Patrushev met with the head of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania Sergey Menyailo. The main topics of the meeting were the development of the region's agro-industrial complex and environmental issues.

Sergey Menyailo emphasized that the agricultural sector is one of the most important segments in the republic's economy. The region's agricultural production index is higher than the Russian average. In the previous year and in the first six months of the current year, livestock production and, in particular, milk production increased.

In North Ossetia, the number of farms is growing every year, and small and medium-sized businesses are developing. The regional government pays close attention to increasing the efficiency of agriculture, its modernization, technical equipment, as well as issues of improvement of rural settlements.

Environmental issues were also discussed at the meeting. Within the framework of the national project "Ecology" in the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, projects were implemented to eliminate unauthorized dumps, create solid municipal waste disposal facilities, clean water bodies and reforestation. About 4 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget for these purposes over six years. Within the framework of the new national project "Ecological Well-Being", which started this year, work in these areas will be continued.

Dmitry Patrushev instructed to intensify work on modernizing the solid municipal waste management system at the regional level. This especially concerns issues of providing container sites and containers.
