NANJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — A signboard unveiling ceremony for the China-Central Asia Flowing Trade Cooperation Platform was held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, on Tuesday.
It is known that this 23,000 square meter platform is designed to play the role of an important bridge and link to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Central Asia, with functions such as promoting trade cooperation, facilitating industrial interaction, and strengthening communication and exchanges.
There is an exhibition hall, national pavilions of five Central Asian countries, a goods display hall, trade missions of Central Asian countries and other countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as an office area for enterprises and organizations with foreign capital.
Assistant Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China Yuan Xiaoming noted that trade and economic cooperation between China and the Central Asian countries is characterized by a wide range, enormous potential and excellent prospects.
The ministry will work with Jiangsu authorities to attract more enterprises to the platform and strive to build a high-quality cooperation platform that is focused on cooperation with other provinces in the country as well as the five Central Asian countries, he added.
Let us recall that the predecessor of this platform was the Center for Central Asian Countries in Jiangsu, which was created by the holding corporation Jiangsu SOHO Holdings Group Co., Ltd together with the government of Xuanwu District of Nanjing.
As noted by SOHO Holdings Group, the China-Central Asia Flowing Trade Cooperation Platform will work to strengthen contacts with economic and trade institutions, associations and enterprises of Central Asian countries, attract enterprises from other regions of China and other countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative to promote the export and import of their branded goods.
The platform also aims to enhance cooperation in industrial chains and supply chains using artificial intelligence technology, develop e-commerce, and accelerate the construction of the Astana-based Jiangsu Center in Central Asia, the company added.
In recent years, there has been dynamic trade and economic cooperation between Jiangsu, a major provincial economy in China, and Central Asian countries.
According to data, in 2024, the trade volume between Jiangsu Province and the five Central Asian countries reached 4.41 billion US dollars, an increase of 32.7 percent year on year. In the first half of 2025, the figure continued to show an upward trend.
In 2024, under the new investment projects of Jiangsu Province in Central Asian countries, the volume of agreed investments from China increased 20 times year-on-year, and in the first half of this year, this figure increased by another 7.9 times. -0-
