BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) — A meeting to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations between the two cities was recently held via videoconference to further deepen the traditional friendship between Zibo City in east China's Shandong Province and Veliky Novgorod City in Russia, promote the practical implementation of joint projects and open up new prospects for exchanges between the sister cities.
As reported on the official website of the Zibo city government, representatives of the Zibo City Foreign Affairs Office, the Veliky Novgorod City Administration and Novgorod State University took part in the event.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views and reached consensus on cooperation projects dedicated to the 30th anniversary of twinning. Representatives of the two cities agreed on comprehensive cooperation in such areas as mutual visits of delegations, establishment of partnerships between secondary and primary schools, academic student exchanges, as well as trade and economic cooperation. Efforts will be aimed at ensuring that the centuries-old friendship brings even more practical results.
The cities of Zibo and Veliky Novgorod officially established sister city relations in 1995. Veliky Novgorod, located in northwestern Russia, is the administrative center of the Novgorod region, one of the oldest cities in the country, and a recognized cultural center. -0-
