NEW DELHI, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) — At least 11 people were killed and four others injured on Sunday when a private car fell into a canal in India's northern Uttar Pradesh state, local police said.
The incident reportedly took place in Gonda district when the victims were returning from prayers at a nearby temple. There were a total of 15 people in the vehicle, including several women, according to reports.
The state government has provided compensation of INR 500,000 (approximately US$5,734) to the families of the deceased. The injured were taken to a local hospital. –0–
