HOHHOT, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) — More than 20,000 China-Europe freight trains have passed through the Ereenhot railway port in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in both directions as of Aug. 3 since the service was launched in 2013, the Hohhot branch of China State Railway Corporation (CSRC) said Sunday.
According to the KGZK, in recent years, along with China's increased efforts in international economic and trade cooperation, the number of trains running through the Erenhot railway checkpoint, their destinations, as well as the frequency of their trips and the types of cargo carried have increased significantly.
The 10,000th China-Europe freight train crossed the border at Erenhot Port in 2022, and the remaining 10,000 trips were completed in about three years. According to the CGRC, the trains previously mainly carried metals, chemicals and clothing, but now they carry high-value-added goods such as new energy vehicles, electronics and home appliances.
Ereenhot is the largest land border crossing between China and Mongolia. It currently handles freight trains on 73 China-Europe routes. Regular rail service through the crossing connects more than 60 Chinese cities with more than 70 junctions in more than 10 countries, including Germany and Poland. -0-
