Moscow, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) — Rail transport in Russia is developing, large-scale projects are being launched to expand it, including in the Arctic regions, which will strengthen Russia's status as a key logistics link in Eurasia. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday in a video address on the occasion of Railway Worker's Day.

"Russia's railway transport is developing, launching large-scale landmark projects. For example, the BAM and Trans-Siberian Railway are being expanded, other routes and approaches to sea ports and terminals are being modernized, including on the Kola Peninsula and in the Far East. Plans include laying and updating routes in the northern Arctic latitudes, in the Komi Republic and Yamal, and in other regions," said V. Putin.

According to the head of the Russian state, projects to expand rail transport will be in demand among Russians and the country's growing economy. They will create new opportunities for globally competitive routes, including the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor.
