PHNOM PENH, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) — The ASEAN Interim Observer Group (ATOG) has inspected conflict-affected areas along the Cambodia-Thailand border following a ceasefire, a Cambodian defense ministry spokesman said Saturday.
The group included the Malaysian military attaché and assistant military attachés from Vietnam and the Philippines, said Deputy Secretary of State and Cambodian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Mali Socheat.
"Cambodia is ready to cooperate with the Malaysian-led observer group to monitor the ceasefire," the lieutenant general said.
On July 24, armed clashes broke out between Cambodian and Thai soldiers in border areas. On July 28, the two countries agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, which took effect at midnight that same day. –0–
