BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — China Southern Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways, the national carrier of Uzbekistan, signed a memorandum of understanding recently.

The two sides promised to meet the rapidly growing needs for business and tourism travel between China and Uzbekistan through the integration and complementarity of their respective excellent resources.

According to the document, they will expand in-depth cooperation in four key areas, including code sharing, cargo transportation development, partnership in the field of additional services, as well as improving the level of passenger service, the website chinanewes.com.cn reports.

China Southern Airlines CEO Han Wensheng said the signing of the document is a key milestone in the airline's strategy in Central Asia.

“Together with Uzbekistan Airways, we will complement each other’s advantages, create the best products in order to strengthen bilateral trade, economic and cultural cooperation within the framework of the Air Silk Road,” the head of the air carrier said.

Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways Shukhrat Khudaykulov noted that China is the most important strategic market for Uzbekistan Airways.

Cooperation with China Southern Airlines, he said, will expand the geography of flights, improve the level of comfort for passengers and give a new impetus to aviation relations between Uzbekistan and China. “We are confident that this partnership will become a solid foundation for the formation of the air Silk Road of the future,” he summed up. -0-
