BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) — Since 2015, the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the Chinese Ministry of Defense has sent experts abroad to train more than 1,600 UN peacekeepers from over 70 countries, Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesman for the Chinese Defense Ministry, said on Wednesday.

Zhang Xiaogang cited the above data at a press conference when answering a question about two recent international training courses organized by the center.

Two UN courses — on explosive ordnance disposal for peacekeepers and for female peacekeepers — were conducted by the center in collaboration with military academies. China plans to hold three new international courses this year — on peacekeeping intelligence, civilian protection and drone use, the official said.

Zhang Xiaogang stressed that the Chinese armed forces will continue to adhere to the principles of resource sharing and mutually beneficial cooperation, actively assist other troop-contributing countries in enhancing their peacekeeping capabilities, and make due contributions to UN peacekeeping. –0–
