BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) — An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 jolted waters east of the Kamchatka Peninsula at 7:24 a.m. Wednesday (Beijing time), the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said.

The epicenter of the tremors was located at 52.40 degrees north latitude and 160.20 degrees east longitude. The hypocenter was located at a depth of 10 km, CENC reported.
