Kabul, July 30 / Xinhua / – The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of Afghanistan announced on Wednesday that about 1.8 million Afghan refugees returned home from Iran over the past three months.
Deputy Minister Majlav, Abdul Rahman Rashid, said that over the past four months, 184459 refugees have returned from Pakistan and 5134 from Turkey.
“At present, about 6 million Afghan refugees live abroad, and the number of internally displaced persons is 2.5 million people,” he added.
In order to support the returners and displaced families over the past year, the Ministry signed 125 memorandums of understanding with both Afghan and international organizations totaling more than 78 million US dollars.
