BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) — Eight districts in Beijing have lifted their highest-level flood response measures at 9 p.m. Tuesday, the Beijing Municipal Flood Control Headquarters said.

The above-mentioned districts, which are mainly located in the central part of the city, include Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai, Shijingshan, Daxing and the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The city authorities extended the highest-level emergency response measures in the Beijing suburbs of Yanqing, Huairou and Miyun, which were severely damaged by heavy rains, as well as in the Chaobai River basin in Shunyi and Tongzhou districts.

The emergency response in Fangshan, Mentougou and Changping districts was downgraded to level three in China's four-level severe weather warning system.

Beijing's city flood control headquarters urged residents to refrain from traveling to dangerous areas.

At 8:00 p.m. Monday, the Beijing Municipal Flood Control Headquarters launched the highest-level emergency response mechanism for the floods.

Heavy rainfall in Beijing has killed 30 people as of 00:00 on Tuesday. The downpours have damaged sections of roads and caused power outages. A total of 80,332 people have been evacuated due to the storm.

The fatalities were recorded in the northern mountainous areas of the Chinese capital, with 28 people killed in the Miyun district and two in the Yanqing district.
