BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a letter to participants of the World Youth Conference for Peace being held in Beijing on Tuesday.
In his message, Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He recalled that 80 years ago, the Chinese people, together with the peoples of the world, completely defeated fascism in bloody battles and achieved peace at the cost of enormous efforts.
Xi Jinping stressed that the future of the planet rests on the shoulders of young people, and expressed the hope that young friends from all countries will take this conference as an opportunity to exchange ideas, enhance mutual understanding and forge friendships.
The Chinese President called on them to be advocates of the concept of peace and active participants in peaceful development, and to contribute their wisdom and strength to promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The conference, under the motto “Together for Peace,” was jointly organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the All-China Youth Federation. –0–
