BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — Deployed units of the People's Liberation Army, the People's Armed Police Force and the militia immediately began flood prevention, disaster relief and relief tasks after arriving in flood-hit areas across the country.

Recently, incessant torrential rains and downpours have hit eastern, northern and northeastern parts of China, causing floods and geological disasters that have resulted in significant loss of life and property.

The Beijing People's Armed Police Force has sent more than 2,000 officers and soldiers to help with flood relief efforts. As of Tuesday afternoon, they had evacuated more than 4,100 residents and delivered more than 3,000 boxes of emergency supplies. -0-
