BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), on Tuesday called on young people around the world to unite to promote peace.
Li Hongzhong, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the call at the World Youth Conference for Peace in Beijing. He also read a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Li Hongzhong said that young people from all countries should join hands to safeguard peace. He called on young people to contribute to world peace, promote development and cooperation, and advance exchanges to promote harmonious coexistence among different civilizations and mutual understanding among peoples.
According to the vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government will continue to create favorable conditions for the growth and development of young people.
Li Hongzhong stressed that China encourages and supports young people from China and other countries to strengthen exchanges, deepen friendship and expand cooperation, and work together to build a bright future for a community with a shared future for mankind.
The conference, under the motto “Together for Peace,” brought together more than 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries on five continents. –0–
