BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — China's National Meteorological Service on Tuesday raised the alert level to "orange" as heavy rainfall continued in many parts of the country.
According to the forecast of the National Meteorological Center (NMC), heavy rains are expected from Tuesday to Wednesday in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, the provinces of Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Taiwan Island.
Experts believe that daily precipitation in some areas will reach 300 mm.
The NMC recommended that local authorities be prepared for possible emergencies and maintain heightened preparedness for floods, mudflows and other natural disasters.
The NMC also issued a yellow alert for convective phenomena in many areas of the country.
Thunderstorms, strong winds and hail are expected in parts of northeast China, north China and the area between the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers from Tuesday to Wednesday, forecasters said.
