BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) — The number of overseas tourists who received value-added tax refunds in China increased by 186 percent from January to June 2025 compared to the same period last year, Wang Daoshu, deputy director of the General Administration of Taxation, said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Monday to discuss the country's implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
According to the data he provided, in the first half of the year there was a multiple increase in the number of stores where you can get a VAT refund – there are currently more than 7,200 of them in China.
