BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) — Beijing authorities on Monday issued a rain and flood warning amid concerns about flash floods and landslides in several areas of the Chinese capital.
At 9:15 a.m., the city's meteorological service issued an orange alert, the second-highest level in China's four-tier weather warning system.
According to the meteorological service, heavy rains will fall in most areas of the capital by 10 a.m. on Tuesday. At the same time, in the areas of Miyun, Pinggu, Huairou, Shunyi and Fangshan, the amount of rainfall in 6 hours will be at least 100 mm, in some places it will exceed 250 mm.
Also on Monday morning, Beijing issued a red alert, the highest level, for possible river flooding.
More than 3,000 residents of Miyun district were evacuated after heavy rains on Sunday, district authorities said. -0-
