URUMQI, July 24 (Xinhua) — A record 307,000 tons of fruits and vegetables were exported through the Khorgos checkpoint on the Chinese-Kazakh border in the first half of the year, up 37.1 percent year on year, according to local customs data.
The Khorgos checkpoint is located in the city of the same name in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Recently, a large number of refrigerated vans loaded with products such as nectarines, grapes, apples, dragon fruit, tomatoes and peppers pass through it every day.
The main importers of Chinese fruits and vegetables are Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.
In order to reduce the time required for customs clearance of goods and ensure the freshness of exported products, the local customs service constantly optimizes the overall customs clearance process and maintains close contact with exporting enterprises.
