BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) — The first cargo transported through the sea-highway-railway multimodal transportation system in the city of Rongcheng in Shandong Province has successfully cleared customs through the port of Shidao, east China, according to a statement posted on the website of Qingdao Customs.
According to the report, the customs clearance of this cargo was carried out under the supervision of customs officers in Rongcheng, which is under the jurisdiction of Qingdao Customs.
The container with the cargo was delivered to the port of Shidao by sea from the port of Incheon /Republic of Korea/ and will be transported by road to the city of Jiaozhou in Shandong Province. Then it will be transported by rail to Kyrgyzstan, crossing the state border through Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region /Northwest China/.
According to customs data, the new transportation model combines existing resources, such as the developed sea freight sector by scheduled liners between China and the Republic of Korea, China's highly efficient road networks, and the increasingly improved international railway freight services between China and Central Asia.
