BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) — A total of 6.95 million new jobs were created in China's cities and towns in the first half of 2025, accounting for 58 percent of the annual target, Cui Pengcheng, spokesperson for the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, said at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to him, in June of this year the unemployment rate, calculated on the basis of sample surveys in cities and towns, was 5 percent, remaining unchanged compared to the same period last year.

Recall that China has set a goal of keeping the unemployment rate, calculated based on sample surveys in cities and towns, at about 5.5 percent in 2025 and creating more than 12 million new jobs in cities. -0-
