BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) — China's rail traffic volume showed steady growth in the first half of 2025, thanks to more efficient network operation and improved service, the national railway operator said Sunday.
According to China Railways Corporation (CRC), the total volume of freight transported during this period was 1.98 billion tons, up 3 percent year-on-year. During the reporting period, the average daily loading was approximately 182,000 units, up 4 percent year-on-year, according to CRC data.
KZhD Corporation said it has made full use of the integrated railway network and promoted market-oriented reforms in the railway freight transportation industry to improve logistics capacity, efficiency and service quality.
During the period from January to June of this year, the volume of coal transportation amounted to 1.02 billion tons, while the volume of transportation of metallurgical products and grain increased by 8.6 percent and 9.8 percent, respectively.
International freight traffic also showed stable performance. According to the corporation, 7,349 trains were dispatched in the China-Europe freight sector during the reporting period, up 25 percent from a year ago. The China-Laos railway carried nearly 3.03 million tons of cross-border freight, up 9 percent. -0-
