TEHRAN, July 19 (Xinhua) — At least 21 people were killed and 37 injured in a bus accident on an intercity road in Iran's southern Fars province on Saturday, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported.

The report said the incident took place on the road from Firuzabad to Kawar districts at 11:00 local time/07:30 GMT.

IRNA reported, citing Hossein Darvishi, Managing Director of the Fars Red Crescent Society, that three rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of the incident.

H. Darvishi added that all the victims were taken to medical centers, and the bodies of the deceased were handed over to law enforcement agencies.

Fars Governor Hosseinali Amiri has demanded an investigation into the incident and a detailed report on its causes. –0–
